On 29 January 2026, within the framework of the EU-funded project PANORAMA (Interreg Italy–Austria 2021–2027), a focus group on renewable energy communities took place in Salzburg.
Hosted at the Salzburg AG Seminarcenter – Umspannwerk Aigen, the event provided a platform for exchange between institutions, researchers and regional stakeholders on the development of energy communities at regional level.
Sabrina Reiter presented the Simulation Service for Renewable Energy Communities developed within the PANORAMA project. The discussion focused on its functioning, practical applications and added value for policy-makers, public administrations and regional actors.
Participants included representatives from politics, business, academia and interested citizens, enabling a constructive exchange on framework conditions and development opportunities.
The focus group formed part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of the Ökostrombörse, including a keynote speech by Roger Hackstock (Austria Solar) and a panel discussion with representatives of regional institutions and organisations.
The discussion confirmed the strong interest in data-based simulation tools as a support for informed decision-making and dialogue.
🇪🇺 PANORAMA is co-funded by the European Union – Interreg Italy–Austria 2021–2027.
